#TeacherSpotlightTuesday

Mrs. Colleen Wojtaszek teaches our 2nd graders here at SMS. She has been teaching for 16 years and has experience in Pre-K 4, Kindergarten and 2nd Grade. Mrs. Wojtaszek received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Hope College in Holland Michigan, and a Master of Science in Teaching Reading in the Classroom from Buffalo State College (Buffalo State University). She is also just one class shy of receiving a Post Masters Certification in Special Education.

Mrs. Wojtaszek has been married for 27 years to her husband Paul. They have 4 children together; Justin, Luke, Ava and Peyton, as well as one 10 year old grandson, Vincent. They also have a temperamental Havanese named Ruby and a 4 year old Golden named Maisy. Her husband is one of 12 children, so there is never a weekend without a birthday, anniversary or wedding to celebrate in their family! Their daughter Ava is working on her teaching degree and is a senior at Colgate University, while their daughter Peyton is a sophomore at St. Bonaventure University in the Occupational Therapy Program. They both absolutely love working with children like their Mom!

Mrs. Wojtaszek’s hobbies and talents include gymnastics, violin, swimming, hiking, gardening, biking, cooking and baking. Her favorite foods are seafood (she’s pescatarian) and anything chocolate! Something she always tells her students is to never say, "I can't"... always say, "I'll try!" Thank you Mrs. Wojtaszek for all you do to make 2nd grade at SMS a wonderful place to learn and grow!
