Mr. Reeds

In continuation of our #TeacherSpotlightTuesday series, this week we're getting to know Mr. Harrison Reeds a little better!

Mr. Reeds teaches Pre-K - grade 8 Physical Education, 6th-8th grade Health, and is the Athletic Director here at St. Mary School Swormville. He has also coached Co-Ed Varsity Soccer here at SMS.

This is Mr. Reeds' fourth year with us teaching. He attended Canisius University where he earned a degree in Physical and Health Education. Mr. Reeds did his student teaching in Kenmore and Eden, NY, and spends his summers teaching swim lessons & water aerobics, as well as working events at Glen Oak Golf Course. He also has coached soccer for Williamsville South High School, as well as lacrosse.

As far as hobbies, Mr. Reeds is an avid fisherman who lends his time and expertise to our Trout in the Classroom project. He also enjoys playing soccer, volleyball and golf. He likes to be outside as much as he can, whether camping, shooting nature photography, or kayaking. He also likes to try to find time to ride his bike, and work out. His favorite foods are steak and potatoes, and he has a cat named "Moe".

A surprising fact about Mr. Reeds is that he can play classical guitar, and was in music competitions for it in high school! He relates that he can also play tin whistle, an Irish instrument, and plays both on occasion with friends.

Something that Mr. Reeds always tells his students is to "be efficient". Additionally, a quote/motto that he tries to live by comes from his grandmother's Scottish clan crest: "Fortis et Fidus", meaning "Brave and Trustworthy".

Thank you Mr. Reeds for sharing more about yourself with our St. Mary School community! We are blessed to have you here!
