🔬Our final Montessori Summer Adventure for the year had students experimenting with science! The children did several experiments, including using their sense of smell to determine what kind of extract was on a cotton ball, as well as observing how when they put a finger in soap, then dipped it in a bowl of water & pepper, the pepper moved away!
Also, thank you to the Attea family who donated the jumbo unicorn sprinkler to help keep our little scientists cool in the hot weather!

These new feathered friends are getting along fabulously! Thank you to Nature's Prize for loaning (and the DeGolier family for delivering) our Montessori classroom some "foster chicks" to pal around with the lone chick that hatched from the Montessori incubator. The students are having so much fun learning about the growing birds, and their peeps can be heard even out in the hallway!

Today students used an egg model to see what the chick looks like at this stage of it's growth. Students also learned about candling. Candling is a technique that uses a bright light to examine the development of an embryo inside a chicken egg by shining it through the shell.

Students are learning all about the life cycle of a chicken, & today put 12 eggs into an incubator where they will stay until they hatch in 21 days. The children (& teachers!) are so excited for our eggs to hatch!
Our Montessori students are enjoying new work this week. Washing babies teaches children empathy, sympathy, and practices gentle hands! 💞
