Miss Gon, our Kindergarten teacher, is reading this week with, "Mama Kisses, Papa Hugs", written by Lisa Tawn Bergren and illustrated by Aleksander Zolotic. Kindergarten was GLOWING CRAZY today for their Glow in the Dark Neon Party! Thank you to the Moleski family for bidding on & winning this experience for their daughter and the class in our 2025 Spring for Success Silent Auction. Students were invited to wear their best neon outfits to school and enjoy a morning of painting under black lights to watch those neon colors glow! Each student created their own painting to bring home as a great Kindergarten memory, and a glow stick dance party and special treat made the morning extra bright! #Kindergarten #GlowParty #glowup #neon #SpringforSuccess #blacklight #glowwiththeflow

As part of their "ABC Countdown" to the last day of school, students worked together to do some reading by flashlight today for letter "F" in their countdown, & they had a blast! 🥚🎨 SMS Girl Scouts got in on the Easter fun before break too! The girls read "Rechenka's Eggs", by Patricia Polacco & explored traditional Ukrainian Easter egg designs to earn their Daisy Art & Design badge. They created edible art using cookies, frosting, sprinkles & M&M's, looked at real & wooden eggs decorated in the Ukrainian style, then painted their own eggs on paper using crayons as the wax resist for their watercolors. Happy Easter to all! SMS offers a wider variety of extracurricular activities for students as young as Kindergarten! From scouting to sports, drama club, art club, instrumental music & more, students are given the opportunity to express themselves & learn new skills beyond the classroom. Miss Gon's class had a blast celebrating "Peep Day" before break! Students let the #sweet, marshmallow treat be the theme for their work, creating Peep headbands, completing Peep math fact families, & naming & coloring Peeps of their own! #PeepDay #EasterFun #Kindergarten

🐇🐣🌷 Miss Gon's Kindergarten class had some sweet Easter fun last week! Students discovered clues around the school (from the Easter Bunny himself!) that led them to an egg hunt in their classroom. They made an Easter craft together, then said their before meal prayers & had "The Last Snack" together as a class. Our Kindergartners are a "force" to be reckoned with! They had a big, blue, special guest for Science recently when they were invited down to Mrs. Witkowski's science lab. They first reviewed what it means to be a scientist & how to make predictions, then did a special experiment & movement activity on forces! Kindergartners learned how to move "Big Bluey" (a huge blow up elephant) with pushes & pulls, drew their own examples of forces, & sorted toys based on the type of forces that move them.
