What a great week in grade 5 science! Students had so much fun exploring Earth's gravitational force through a variety of informational texts, demonstrations, and experiments.
They also had a surprise and special visit from Mr. Kelly to share a toad he found!
💙🦬❤️ The Bills make us 'wanna... dress down! Students enjoyed the first of many Buffalo Bills & HSA Spirit Wear dress down days today. Proceeds from these dress down days benefit our HSA as well as various charitable causes. Go Bills!
You know you're close to your co-workers when you start to dress alike! Check out our K, 1, 2, & 3-5 science teachers' unplanned, yet twinning 'fits from last week - we sure are a stylish bunch!
Grade 2 students already have some colorful work hanging in the hall outside their classroom! Mrs. Wojtaszek's students completed this assignment in which they wrote down ways they can "fill the bucket" for their classmates this year - what great ideas for how to bring happiness & joy to others!

SMS parents & guardians turned out for "Meet the Teacher Night" last evening! They had a great time visiting their children's classrooms, learning the expectations for this school year, and getting to see some old as well as new friends! Our Principal, Athletic Director, & HSA President also gave short presentations.
Mrs. Wojtaszek's 2nd graders shared their Paper Bag Autobiographies last week in order to learn about each other! Each student brought in 5 things that best described their interests or family in their paper bag, then shared these items & why they were important to them with the class. What interesting students we have!
Miss Gon's adorable Kindergarten class started off their first week at school with an adorable story, "Stick and Stone". This simple tale tells the story of a stick and a stone, how they forge a friendship, and the importance of helping friends in need.
What a great first week of science for our 4th graders! Students continued exploring what it means to be a scientist & made wonderful observations of various specimens. Next they'll be starting their study on evidence from rock layers. Keep up the good work grade 4!

Our students were “sorted” into their 2025-2026 Faith Families today! Faith Families are the house system at SMS, comprised of groups of students represented by a saint & led by one of our teachers. These mixed-grade-level groups sit together at Mass, take turns leading the liturgy, & work together for special projects & events like Catholic Schools Week, Spirit Week & the HSA Picnic. Visit https://youtu.be/G1P1Wnn8QGw to learn more.
Miss Ferrilli's 5th grade class has been getting into the swing of things! They've been taking advantage of our great Fall weather and even had writing class outside.

Grade 3 students rolled up their sleeves last week to create vacuums in Science! They explored what it means to be a scientist with Mrs. Witkowski. Great job grade 3!
Our Montessori students are settling in nicely! The children read "The Kissing Hand" with their teachers this week, then worked on coloring some hands of their own to take home. The book captures the experience of starting something new & addresses emotions children may face, while emphasizing love, reassurance & connection.
Teamwork makes the dream work! Mrs. Picone's grade 1 students loved working with a partner to "create a grandchild" with a roll & draw activity. They took turns rolling dice to determine which facial feature to make next on their drawing & came up with some unique creations!
Thank you to Mischler's Florist and Greenhouses for the beautiful bouquet delivered to our school office this morning in recognition of our hard working teachers and staff!
