Go through your garage, mudroom & coat closet - don’t throw out your old shoes- bring them in starting tomorrow to support our 8th graders as they fund-raise for their class trip! Shoe collection bins will be placed outside the school office. Our 8th graders have a goal of 2,500 shoes so they appreciate all the support they can get!
Shoes, sneakers, cleats, hiking boots, rain boots, water shoes & sandals are acceptable, they will not accept single shoes, ice skates, roller skates, wet or moldy shoes, or shoes with holes or tears. The company they are collecting for, Funds2Orgs, works to support individuals who create micro-businesses in developing countries to combat the effects of systemic poverty and a lack of education and economic opportunity. It's a win-win!

Mrs. Baker's 4th Grade celebrated the end of their novel "The Eyes and the Impossible" with some special friends and donuts with dogs! The children's novel incorporates the themes of friendship, survival, selflessness, teamwork, and the power of art to tell the story of Johannes, a fast, free dog who lives in a national park, and runs through the park, seeing all, missing nothing, and reporting what he sees to the park's three ancient Bison.

Recess isn't just for the little ones here at SMS! Students from pre-k to grade 8 enjoy time outside each day if weather permits on our beautiful campus, to be physically active and engaged with their peers in activities of their choice.
Recess benefits students by:
• Increasing their level of physical activity.
• Improving their memory, attention, and concentration.
• Helping them stay on-task.
• Reducing disruptive behavior.
• Improving their social and emotional development (e.g., learning how to share and negotiate).
