Our littlest "bees" in Montessori K - grade 2 took their Fall field trip to the farm yesterday! Becker Farms in Gasport hosted us for apple picking, a wagon ride & lunch. Students also had a chance to feed & pet the animals, & most importantly learned about where the food they eat comes from & how it grows - on farms! Click the link to see more photos from the day: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.907415051411454&type=3 Our SMS parents also look forward to chaperoning field trips as an opportunity to assist their child's class, get to know other parents, & join in the fun! #fieldtrip #fallonthefarm #nofarmsnofood #applepicking

Today is the feast day of St. Jerome, and our Faith Family of the same name led us in the liturgy at school Mass a few weeks ago. Click here to see our students participating at Mass: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/mgrcL42YAQTRxbDK/ St. Jerome was born to Catholic parents who taught him about Jesus. When he was older, Jerome lost his love for Jesus. Once he again found his faith, he was so afraid that he would fall back into his old ways that he moved away from his family and friends. Saint Jerome is reputed to have removed a thorn from a lion’s paw while living as a hermit in the desert. He was known for having a bad temper but worked hard at controlling himself. He was the first to translate the Bible from Hebrew to Latin. Yesterday was the feast day of St. Vincent de Paul, and our Faith Family of the same name led us in the liturgy at school Mass. Click here to see our students participating at Mass: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/R7RLwJju9DkjDYnG/ St. Vincent was born in France, the son of a farmer. He studied and became a priest. He was captured by pirates but survived two years as a slave, then escaped. He established organizations of men and women to provide aid to the poor and sick. He depended on the donations of the wealthy, who made it possible for him to found hospitals and an orphanage. He founded the Sisters of Charity, the first congregation of women to care for the sick and poor outside of the convent.
